Anglers are invited to take part in an emergency fish salvage starting Friday at Harvey Gap Reservoir, north of Silt. Colorado Parks and Wildlife has removed minimum size, bag, and possession limits for all fish species in the reservoir. All other fishing regulations are in effect and will be enforced. The fish salvage is being instituted in anticipation of the reservoir’s water levels being lowered by The Silt Water Conservancy District, to allow crews to inspect the dam’s outlet structure. Although lowering operations have not officially begun, the water level has dropped considerably in the past few weeks. The reservoir will remain mostly empty until the dam is thoroughly inspected and any maintenance issues are addressed. For more information on the fish salvage, call 625-1607 or click here.
