First National Bank of the Rockies Changes Hands

BofSJMeeker2 (1)One of the oldest banks in northwest Colorado begins a new chapter this week when 10 First National Bank of the Rockies branches are renamed Bank of the San Juans following an acquisition by Montana-based Glacier Bancorp Inc. Bank officials say customers will notice few changes at the Grand Junction, Steamboat, Craig, Hayden, Meeker, Rangely and Oak Creek branches. One of the benefits of the change will be that the new bank can offer local businesses more resources to grow with higher lending limits than what First National Bank of the Rockies was able to do, and home mortgage lending also will soon expand. First National Bank of the Rockies was started in Meeker in 1904. Pictured:  Changing the sign in Meeker.
