This is Fire Preparedness Week, and the Routt County Office of Emergency Management has some tips to share. The agency has released statistics regarding home fires and smoke alarms, and tips on how to prevent a fire in your home. In 2011 there were 370,000 home fires in the U.S., causing nearly 14,000 injuries and over 2,500 deaths. the estimated cost of the damage was over $6.9 billion.
