Fire Closes Highway 40

A wildfire closed Highway 40 about 45 miles west of Craig for a little over an hour yesterday afternoon. Firefighters responded to the fire a little after five and were able to control the blaze enough to re-open the highway just before 6:30. Crews were able to get the fire fully suppressed last night. According to Moffat County Sheriff KC Hume, the fire is believed to have been caused by lightning.
