A haying operation resulted in a wildfire Monday on property off of Klein Road between Steamboat and Milner. The fire is believed to have been caused by sparks from a hay baler or tractor, resulting in a field catching fire around 6 in the afternoon. It took firefighters about 6 hours to fully suppress the blaze, which burned between 35 and 40 acres. Fire Crews will be on the scene Tuesday, to ensure that the fire is fully out. Damage from the fire was limited to fences, the field and hay bales. Photos of the fire courtesy of the Steamboat Fire and Rescue Facebook page, click to enlarge.
