American Legion Post #44, VFW post #4264 and the VA Tele Health Clinic in Craig will be proving free flu shots for Moffat and Routt County Veterans on Friday, October 18th from 11am to 6:30pm at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Veterans needing flu shots should plan on getting their shots at this time. Not only do veterans get the flu shots free, there will also be an opportunity to learn about and sign up for VA health care. This is important as VA health care meets the standards of the Affordable Care Act, so veterans enrolled in VA health care will not have to take additional steps to meet the health care law coverage standards.
The flu shots are free to all veterans, and no appointment is neede, this is walk in. Also, they do not need to be enrolled in the VA healthcare system. However, veterans should bring proof of military service, or an American Legion or VFW membership card. Those serving in the Reserves or National Guard are also eligible for free shots, if their units were deployed to a war zone during a military conflict.
For more information on the Flu shots or VA Health Care contact Mike Condie, Routt County Veterans Service Officer, 879-5489.
