The Environmental Protection Agency has agreed to hold extra public hearings on its new carbon emissions rules, but none of those hearings will be in Moffat County, or any coal producing county. Instead, the EPA will hold an extra day of hearings in each of the cities already on the schedule. Hearings will now be in Atlanta, Washington D.C., and Denver July 29th and 30th, and in Pittsburgh July 31st and August 1st. Lawmakers, elected officials and industry representatives had tried to get the EPA to hold the hearings in areas that were effected by the proposed rules, but the EPA refused. The rules are expected to devastate rural coal producing counties economically.
