October was declared Domestic Violence Awareness Months by the Moffat County Commissioners at their weekly meeting yesterday. Moffat County citizens are encouraged to take a stand against domestic violence by educating themselves on the prevalence of the issue, and to prepare in the event that they may need to protect, assist or support a victim or survivor of domestic violence. Every 8 seconds in the United States a woman is a victim of domestic violence, equating to about 10,000 incidents per day. Last year in Moffat County, 85 new cases of domestic violence were reported.
