Crews made good progress again yesterday controlling the Dead Dog Fire, increasing containment from 60 to 95%. The fire has not grown significantly over the last couple of days and is estimated at just under 28 square miles. The majority of the fire, or 89% occurred on BLM lands, with only 9% of the area affected being private property. No structures have been lost to the blaze but at last count nearly 60 power poles were destroyed by the fire. Favorable weather conditions today should allow crews to gain full containment of the fire, which started Sunday night, 10 miles north of Rangely.
