Colorado Attorney General Cynthia Coffman will be in Craig later this month to tour the Tri State Generation and Transmission Craig Station. The Moffat County Commissioners made that announcement yesterday. They say Coffman will be in Craig on the same day that Trapper Mine and the Office of Surface Mining will hold a public comment gathering session on Trapper’s new Environmental Assessment. Trapper, along with the ColoWyo mine were the subjects of litigation from environmentalists. ColoWyo’s assessment has already been finished. The public comment period for the Trapper settlement begins October 29th and ends April 30th. Coffman is not scheduled to attend that meeting, however, local officials will invite her to stop by. She is scheduled to visit the Boys and Girls Club of Craig. The visit and the meeting both take place October 29th. The meeting will be held at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavillion from 4 to 8. Representatives of Trapper, the OSM, Moffat County and the City of Craig say community participation for this assessment is just as important as it was with the ColoWyo assessment.
