On Wednesday and Thursday, the Cub Creek Road to the Josie Morris Ranch will be closed for road repair work. The road will be closed at the gate with the Blue Mountain Road. For visitor and employee safety, hiking or biking will not be allowed on the road during the closure due to heavy equipment use. Recent thunderstorms produced heavy rains that have caused intensive erosion in several locations along the road. This work is necessary to repair the current damage and prevent further impacts. The Cub Creek Road is a 10 mile long paved and dirt road that provides a scenic drive along the south face of Split Mountain. The closure will only affect the last 2 miles of the road. The project won’t impact access to the Quarry Visitor Center or the “Wall of Bones.” Access to the Green River and Split Mountain campgrounds will not be affected. Visitors will also still have access to the Blue Mountain Road. The road will be reopened as soon as possible. Work is expected to take two days. For more information and updates, call (435) 781-7700.
