A report released by the Moffat County Sheriffs Office shows that crime rates increased in the county in 2015 as compared to the previous year. Notable increases include the assault rate which rose by 14 cases over the last calendar year or by 200%. The number of criminal mischief cases rose by 12 last year. Drug offenses and DUI charges were also higher in the county. There were 36 drug violations in 2015 compared to 7 in 2014, and five more DUI’s occurred over that time period. Crime rates actually increased across all categories that were measured except for murder and traffic tickets. There were no murder cases in the last calendar year compared to one in the year prior, and traffic citations issued in the county decreased by about 13%.
