Misdemeanor child abuse charges have been filed against Craig Police Officer Tracey Reneau for an incident involving her step child in July. Reneau was relieved of her duties as a police officer in early August. She has been charged with Third Degree Assault and Child Abuse. According to court documents, Reneau knowingly or recklessly caused injury to, or permitted a child to be placed in a situation that posed a threat of injury or death. Reneau is due in court in Routt County on October 5th. If convicted of the charges Reneau will no longer be able to serve as a police officer in Colorado.
