The Craig Elks Lodge is looking for members. The club’s Frank Sadvar showed up to the Moffat County Commissioners meeting Tuesday, and said they are experiencing declining enrollment, along with most other civic organizations. Sadvar said in the ’70’s, their membership boasted over 700 members. Today they have 77, and the average age of the members is around 73. He said he’s lucky to get half a dozen of them to a meeting. Sadvar says youth don’t seem to be interested in civic organizations these days, and he says the groups may be partly to blame. He said they want to start reaching out to youth and families. One way they’ll do that is by holding a community barbecue next month. The barbecue will take place at the Moffat County Fairgrounds August 22nd from 11 to 3.
