The Craig City Council voted 6 to 1 at a special meeting yesterday, to make the firing of City Manager Mike Foreman official. The City announced the firing early last week, but due to procedural issues, a formal vote had to be held to conform to Colorado Law. Foreman firing was partially attributed to an incident that occurred at the Kiwanis Play earlier this month, when Foreman got into a verbal altercation with a woman at the play. Craig Mayor John Ponikvar said the incident caused the majority of the council to lose confidence in Foreman. Councilmen Chris Nichols was the only member of the council to vote against the firing. The city will utilize the same outside search firm to find the new city manager as they used to hire Foreman. Ponikvar says that because Foreman was dismissed within two years of his hiring, the city’s contract with the search firm stipulates that the firm has to conduct another employee search at a free or discounted rate.
