Crews were able to increase control of the Beaver Creek Fire this week, bringing containment from 28 to 41%. Lower winds, temperatures and higher humidity continue to help crews in their efforts to control the blaze. Teams are still working on protecting structures that could be affected, and cutting and maintaining fire lines. They are also continuing to ignite spot fires to thin out excess fuels. The fire which is burning 24 miles northwest of Walden is estimated at over 55 square miles.
