The Moffat County Commissioners signed a letter at their meeting yesterday, supporting the approval of a proposed air quality permit for the ColoWyo Mine Collom pit. The permit is required for operations at the mine to continue. The Collom development will support more than 200 jobs in the area and is expected to contribute $200 million in regional impact. According to ColoWyo, the strict pollution limits and requirements instituted under the permit will help protect the environment while the new development occurs. Federal officials approved a mining plan for the Collom project at Colowyo Mine last January. Public comments concerning the proposed air quality permit are being accepted through January 28th.
