Colorado was the 8th fastest growing state in the nation this year according to the US Census Bureau. Colorado added 77,000 residents between 2016 and 2017, increasing the states population by about 1.4%, coming in slightly behind Arizona which added 100,000 residents. Texas and Florida were the fastest growing states in the country over that time period, with well over 300,000 people moving into those states, while Idaho had the biggest percentage gains in population, growing by 2.2%. Wyoming was one of 8 states that lost population between 2016 and 2017, with the state losing 1 percent of the population over that time period, the largest percentage decline of any of the states that lost population.
