2015 was a deadly year on the roads in Colorado. Early numbers show the state saw 523 fatalities last year, a 16% spike over 2014. Roughly a third of all the deadly wrecks happened because of impairment. According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, the number of fatalities in Northwest Colorado Counties last year were; 4 each in Moffat County, Routt and Grand; 1 in Rio Blanco and 7 in Eagle County. On the Western Slope Mesa County had the most fatalities with 19 killed. The highest number of deadly crashes happened in January, September and October last year.
