CO Highway Deaths Continue To Increase

CDOTTraffic fatalities rose by 12% in Colorado between 2014 and 2015, and are on pace to increase again this year. As of September 20th 423 people have died on Colorado roads, 415 people died during the same time period last year. Of those that died this year, 147 were not wearing seat belts. Despite efforts by The Colorado Department of Transportation to raise awareness, a recent study shows that seat belt usage is slightly down among Colorado Drivers when compared to last year. The survey found only 84% of Coloradans wear seat belts, which is below the national average of 88%. This means that approximately 625,000 people in cars in Colorado drive or ride without a using a seat belt.
