Closures For Dam Work At Steamboat Lake

Upgrade and repair work will begin soon on the Willow Creek Dam at Steamboat Lake State Park. Colorado Parks and Wildlife is advising the public to observe closure signs and avoid the area
around the dam while the work is taking place. In addition to the area near the dam being closed, the Sage Flats area will also be closed to day use until the project is complete. During the project, state engineers will be upgrading and repairing the tower outlet infrastructure and will install a new monitoring and control system. The majority of Steamboat Lake State Park, including the marina, will remain open while the work is taking place. Built in the mid-1960s, the Willow Creek Dam is considered a ‘high-hazard’ dam as loss of life could occur in the event of a failure.
