As stream flows are up in the Yampa River due to increased rain and some mountain snow over the weekend, Steamboat has lifted the voluntary closure of the river. In addition to the Yampa River being open through town, the Chuck Lewis State Wildlife Area also lifted its restrictions over the weekend. Steamboat implemented closures for all commercial activities on the Yampa River and instituted a voluntary closure to the public on August 31. The closure required Northwest Colorado Health in Steamboat to delay their annual Rubber Ducky Race. Now that the river is open, the race has been rescheduled for this Saturday.
