Former President Bill Clinton is lending his voice to Colorado’s embattled Democrats. Clinton canceled an appearance at a Saturday fundraiser for Senator Mark Udall in Denver after the birth of his first grandchild. But the former president called in anyway and tried to boost Udall and Governor John Hickenlooper by speakerphone. Both Colorado Democrats face tough re-election campaigns. Clinton said the two men have helped improve Colorado and work across the aisle whenever possible. However, their opponents say they have been heavily partisan, taking their cues from President Obama and high profile democrats like Michael Bloomberg. Udall faces Republican Representative Cory Gardner. Hickenlooper is being challenged by former Representative Bob Beauprez. Polls show both contests are essentially deadlocked. Pictured: Bill Clinton
