A community blood drive will be held in Steamboat next week. Bonfils Blood Center says they experience about a 20% decline in donations in the summer months, because of travel and other summer plans. They say the need for donations remains the same, however, and that’s the reason for their blood drive next week. It’s said that every unit of blood donated can save or enhance the lives of up to 3 people. The drive will be held August 6th from 12:30 to 6 at Yampa Valley Medical Center. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-365-0006. Walk-ins are also welcome from 3 to 5:30. Officials say to allow for an hour for the process, and to eat a full meal and drink plenty of water before donating.
