BLM Suspends Venting And Flaring Rule

As part the Trump administrations goal to reduce the burden of federal regulations that may hinder economic growth and energy development, the Bureau of Land Management announced this week that the agency will temporarily suspend or delay certain requirements contained in its 2016 final Waste Prevention Rule, also known as the Venting and Flaring Rule, until January of 2019. According to BLM representative Brian Steed, the BLM needs to make sure the regulations in the venting and fairing rule do not unnecessarily encumber the US energy markets. Steed says that by holding off on certain requirements, the BLM now has sufficient time to review the rule, while avoiding any compliance costs to the industry, which may not be necessary.
