BLM Plans To Trap Horses In Sweetwater County

The BLM is planning to remove up to 1,000 wild horses from Sweetwater County. Current plans call for the removal of 210 horses from Adobe Town, 584 from Salt Wells Creek and 235 from the Great Divide Basin. Current rules require the removal of horses when population numbers climb above established management levels. Wild Horse populations need to be managed because if herds become too large, the natural forage on the land will not be enough to sustain them.
