Volunteers are needed this Saturday to help improve the Sand Wash wild horse herd management area, as part of National Public Lands Day. The Bureau of Land Management is looking for volunteers to help with fence repair and other clean-up of the area. Participants should bring sunscreen, work gloves, fencing tools, if available, and a camp chair. Water and snacks will be provided. Volunteers will meet at 9 in the morning at the Sand Wash corrals off of State Highway 318. For more information, call 876-9008. Each year, more than 4,000 volunteers contribute more than 200,000 hours to the BLM in Colorado. National Public Lands Day is the largest hands-on volunteer effort on public lands in Colorado and across the country.
