A live stream of today’s Bureau of Land Management Listening Session in Denver is available today here at KRAI.COM. The purpose of the Listening Session Tuesday is to gather feedback on how the BLM can best carry out its responsibility to ensure that American taxpayers receive a fair return on federal coal reserves. The session, at the Denver West Marriott, is one of five sessions being held around the country, and typical to the Department of Interior, is not being held in a coal community. Those choosing speak at the hearing will be given three minutes, and were required to pre-register to do so. WildEarth Guardians’ Climate and Energy Program Director, Jeremy Nichols, will be among those speaking at the listening session, and according to a WildEarth Guardian’s press release, will call on the U.S. Interior Department and Interior Secretary, Sally Jewell, to keep publicly owned coal in the ground. Wild Earth Guardian’s is also planning a rally before the hearing with banners and t-shirts calling on the Interior Department to stop approving more publicly owned coal mining and to keep it in the ground.
