Members from US Senator Michael Bennet’s staff will be conducting Farm Bill listening sessions next week in Northwest Colorado. Bennet, a member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, has scheduled the sessions to gather input and comments from local stakeholders, which will help guide future updates to the Farm Bill. The Farm Bill regulates national food and farm policy including crop insurance, nutrition and conservation. It typically needs to be revisited and approved every five years. The current farm bill is scheduled to expire in late 2018. All those interested in, or associated with Northwest Colorado agriculture, are encouraged to attend the listening sessions to provide their input on Farm Bill regulations. Space is limited, so interested parties should reserve their spot prior to attending. The meetings will take place next Tuesday April 11th from 9 to 10:30 in Craig at the Moffat County Extension Office, and from 2:30 to 4 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center.
