Democrat Senator Michael Bennet came out forcefully against the GOP’s latest attempt to repeal and replace Obamacare, telling reporters yesterday the new Republican effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act was disgraceful. Bennet says lawmakers would be better served by crafting narrow legislation aimed at addressing problems in the individual health insurance markets in the United States. Republicans are trying to pass the Graham/Cassidy bill this week because Saturday is this years deadline to use reconciliation rules within the budget process to prevent Democrats from filibustering. Analysts say more than 400,000 people in the state would lose coverage under the latest plan. The chances of the Graham-Cassidy bill passing took another hit yesterday, with Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine, saying she would vote against the bill, making her the third Republican Senator to oppose the legislation. Republican Senator Cory Gardner says he is still considering the bill and has not decided how he would vote in the event the bill is brought to the Senate floor.
