Don Cook and Ray Beck were picked Saturday by Moffat County Republicans at their Assembly to be Moffat County Commissioner candidates for the upcoming June primary election. Cook will represent the Republicans in District 1, and will face off against incumbent John Kinkaid, who is an independent. As an independent, Kinkaid must collect signatures from area residents in order to be put on the ballot. It appears that Beck will run unopposed for the District 2 seat currently being held by Chuck Grobe (GROW-bee) unless a challenger successfully petitions to get on the ballot. Beck and Cook were the only Republican candidates that received the necessary amount of delegates to lock in a spot in the primary.
