A barn caught fire early this morning approximately 5 miles south of Steamboat. The Steamboat Springs Fire Department responded to the fire near the intersection of Highway 131 and Routt County Road 22 a little before one. When crews arrived on the scene one of the barns walls was engulfed in flames . It took them approximately 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze. The ducks and goats in the barn at the time of the fire were not injured. It is believed that the fire was caused by a heat lamp that ignited the barn’s floor and wall. Damage has been estimated at $500.
