Animal Nest Causes Car To Catch Fire

An animal nest is believed to have caused a vehicle fire yesterday afternoon in Steamboat. The vehicle had reportedly been in storage for a period of time before it was driven yesterday. The driver was able to pull the vehicle over and exit safely, after smoke became visible in the cab of the car. Other drivers in the area assisted with personal fire extinguishers until Steamboat Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after 4. It took crews around 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze. A representative from the Steamboat Fire Department said witnesses reported seeing an animal run out from underneath the vehicle on fire after it was stopped, but this was never confirmed. No one was injured in the incident.
