The Department of Local Affairs Advisory Committee hearings to review Energy/Mineral Impact Assistance Funding application will be held today and tomorrow in Grand Junction. Among the applications to be reviewed is the Associated Governments of Northwest Colorado (AGNC) application for funding to conduct local scale mapping throughout Northwest Colorado of Greater Sage Grouse (GrSG) habitat. The maps, developed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), are based on a very high level of data and research resulting in very broad ranging habitat designation. CPW maps were provided to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), but cooperating agencies say more mapping needs to be conducted. AGNC proposes to provide that mapping effort. A final decision will be provided by the Executive Director of DOLA sometime in late November or early December after the committee has heard, reviewed and discussed all applications and makes recommendations regarding project funding.
