Two public meetings are being held in Steamboat tomorrow to allow the public to receive information for projects that are taking place in the area. The City along with the National Parks Service will host the second of a series of open houses tomorrow, to provide information and gather comments from the public about plans to update the Bear River Park master plan. Tomorrow’s open house will start at 5:30 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Two conceptual plans that have been prepared based on the public’s comments from the first meeting will be presented and discussed at the meeting. The park near the Yampa River currently includes a picnic area, a skateboard park and provides access to the river. The goal of the plan is to create a practical, financially feasible approach to guide future improvements to the park.
A second meeting is being held tomorrow to allow the public to receive information and make comments on the plans for the Elk River Road and US 40 intersection improvement project in Steamboat Springs. The meeting is tomorrow night from 4 to 7 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center American Legion Room. The plan calls for the installation of a new traffic light, and the addition of new auxiliary lanes. Other improvements include pedestrian accommodations and facilities, drainage improvements and a full asphalt overlay of the entire project area. Construction on this project is scheduled for the 2017 season.
