The release of the new Environmental Assessment on the Collum area of the ColoWyo mine which was scheduled for yesterday has been pushed back a few days. Lee Boughey, the Director of Communications and Public Affairs for Tri-State Generation and Transmission, said there was no specific reason for the delay. The Assessment is now scheduled to be released to the public Tuesday. Community meetings, where people will be able to voice their support or concerns for the project are still scheduled for January 27th in Craig and on February 5th in Meeker. A “Support Northwest Colorado” website is set up by a group of communities, businesses and individuals in Northwest Colorado to educate the public about the benefits and value of energy production in the region is now available. Tri-State Generation and Transmission is the majority owner of Western Fuels-Colorado, which delivers coal produced at Colowyo Mine to the Craig power plant.
