25 Pounds of Pot Seized in Wyoming Traffic Stop

MARIJUANA-300A traffic stop for speeding on Monday morning resulted in the seizure of approximately 25 pounds of marijuana. The traffic stop occurred on Interstate 80 eastbound about 16 miles east of Evanston, Wyoming. A Wyoming State Trooper stopped a speeding car, and became suspicious when he smelled an overwhelming odor of raw marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. After searching the car, troopers located 25 pounds of raw high-grade marijuana. It was determined the marijuana was being transported to the Madison, Wisconsin area from Oakland, California. 41 year old Gerald Nichols and 24 year old Stephanie Martin, both of Madison, Wisconsin, were arrested. Both were taken to the Uinta County Jail and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. The estimated street value of the seized marijuana is $125,000.
