The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred today (February 1), at approximately 4 a.m., on Interstate 70 near mile 68, in Garfield County. A Dodge Ram, driven by 22 year old Devan Cruz-Carderea out of Grand Junction, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 near mile 68. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, colliding with a delineator post. The vehicle traveled back onto the roadway and crossed both lanes of eastbound Interstate 70. The vehicle then traveled off the right side of the roadway, and began to roll. The driver was ejected during the roll and sustained fatal injuries. The vehicle came to final rest, off the right side of the Interstate on its top. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle. The right lane of Interstate 70 was closed for several hours, due to the crash. Grand Valley Fire and EMS, Garfield County Sheriff’s Department, Garfield County Coroner and CDOT responded to the scene with the Colorado State Patrol.
