HAYDEN TOWN HALL TO GIVE FINAL APPROVAL TO AIRPORT PARKING FINES
A vote to finalize new fines for parking in front of the Yampa Valley Regional Airport Terminal comes Thursday. The Hayden Town Council has answered staff’s request to raise the fines. It is illegal to park, and leave your car at the terminal due to Homeland Security issues. However, the town says the fines weren’t enough to keep people from parking there. The significant increase will be discussed again Thursday night, before a final reading. The council also will consider a new logo and slogan for the town. That meeting is at 7:30 Thursday night at Hayden Town Hall.

SENATOR BENNET URGES CAUTION IN CLOSING RURAL POST OFFICES
Senator Michael Bennet is urging the Postal Regulatory Commission to use careful consideration when deciding which rural post offices to close across the nation. The senator says there are rural areas in Colorado that can be isolated during winter months. He says residents and business owners in small communities that find themselves without a post office will have to make long, dangerous commutes to conduct their personal or business related correspondence. The U-S Postal Service has proposed shutting down over 3,500 smaller post offices around the country to stave off economic woes. Bennet stated his opinions in a letter sent to the Postal Regulatory Commission.
